I've been wearing faux leather for more than 5 years now and I'm still learning how to take care of this fabric.

Learning how to clean it has of course come at a cost, unfortunately, I have accidentally stripped off the color of the material while washing with other fabrics, tore the material while cleaning it and so many other expensive lessons.
What's the fuss about, Leather or False Leather?
I don't consider myself an expert in this field, yet. I'm still learning not to call it leather but faux/vegan/false leather.
I usually get a tongue lashing on my YouTube comment section from 'leather & latex experts' that are quick to angrily point out that I'm not wearing real leather but false leather.
Who cares?
As long we all feel good, confident & sexy in it who cares what name to give it??
Nonetheless, I'm still getting familiar with some of the vocabulary people in my community use to refer to some of these fabrics, you know, so as not to burn bridges and make like-minded people angry.
Before, I talked about how to Care for faux Leather citing different ways you can lengthen the life span of your favorite faux leather pieces of clothing.
Apart from preventing cracking of the material, cleaning it properly too does help to maintain the integrity of the fabric.
Simple ways of Cleaning Faux Leather Pants, Leather Catsuits & Leather Jackets.
The following simple methods can help you clean your faux leather pieces of clothing without you destroying the fabric.
Start by Sorting your Faux Leather according to color.
This also applies to storing your leather. Never store colorful clothing like PVC near your false leather clothing. The colors on one will transfer to the adjacent fabric.
This sounds like common sense but might not be so common to many people, me included.
Sometimes you might own 2 different types of faux leather fabric, from different shops, the same color but one of them might tarnish the fabric of the other simply because they're made differently.
Getting rid of Stains on the False Leather Fabric.
Unless the label on the garment says otherwise, consider hand-washing your leather leggings.
Some types of false leather clothing items can be easily washed in the washing machine but others need special attention.
Wash each piece of cloth separately in lukewarm water using unscented liquid soap, rinse & dry.
Sometimes you may not wish to wash your leather jacket immediately after one wear, you can then use a damp cloth with some soap and go over the stains gently until they're seen no more.
Drying your Fake leather.
I mostly air dry mine, not sun dry because that might lead to cracking.
Letting the fabric drain and dry in a cool & dry place is so much better for the fabric.
The fabric doesn't take long to dry anyways.
Removing creases from Vegan Leather.
Leather jackets, some leather leggings, and leather catsuits are culprits of creasing more so after washing.
Vegan leather can be tricky to iron since the material easily melts in heat. You can never expose your iron directly to the fabric, it will literally melt on the iron.
A simple technique to remove creases would be, on very low heat, cover your vegan leather clothing with a towel and gently use your not-so-hot iron to go over the top.
This will get rid of all the creases and leave your clothing as smooth as it should be.
False leather plastic, treat it as such.
That's it really, a no-brainer. No need to destroy your favorite false leather clothing due to negligence. You now know better.
See you lovely people in my next issue!
